  2. If possible, it would be great to limit the number of simultaneous downloads and then when the current downloads are finished, it automatically starts the rest of the files selected for download.

If that isn't possible, plan B could be to have an ability to set a limit on the number of simultaneous downloads and the ability to set a timer which will start the next downloads in cue based when the timer runs out. That way I could approximate how long each download will take and set it/forget it.

    Thanks for the extension.

This does bug some users, I'll add this to the to do list.

      Thanks

  4. It's a really nice extension, thank you.
    I use it a lot.

It would be wonderful if you implemented the custom download location. That would make it significantly more useful for me.

    1. Thanks.
I do get this request a lot and would love to implement it, however this will take my sometime as web browsers are by design denying access to the disk and I'll have to implement a custom downloader.

I defiantly will get to it and follow up.

  5. Is it technically possible to download the entire website, keeping its internal link structure valid and packing all that into a downloadable zip archive?

    1. It is possible and actually shouldn't be too hard to implement.
I'll consider implementing it as a dedicated extension.

Would you like to see this functionality as part of Download Master?

      Thanks

    2. Hello,

Yes I'd highly support this functionality as part of the extension.

  6. Just wanted to say thanks, just helped me download ~700 zip files out of a possible 2800 zip files linked on a page. Probably could have done it in curl, but more fun and quicker watching all those autodownloads. Cheers and thanks again.

  7. What's new
    1. Filtering based on text input

What does this exactly mean and how does it work?

Is there a way to have what you entered stay in the box for the next time it is opened?

    2. Sure there is a way, I'll add it to the to do list.
I see it took you several minutes to find the custom filter, should I add a label near it to make it more intuitive?

      Thanks for the feedback

      grato

  13. Thanks for putting this extension out there. I don't use it as a whole, but more used it as a debugging mechanism for an extension I was writing that does targeted downloading for a specialized task.

I have a suggestion that might help with the custom download location request.

You could allow the user to specify a custom prefix and prepend that to the download file name to allow easy sorting and selection for manually moving the files. That would require some work to force the filename if the server sends the file with a content-disposition header including a filename. I have a function that would do that if you would want it.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion abuter, that is a good idea to help sorting and finding the files after each download.

The next big leap forward of this extension is to download the files to a user specified location on the disk. I know that by design I can't do anything out of the browser sandbox, do you know of any Chrome hook to enable an access to the disk from a browser context?

You can write to my email if you like monadikotita@gmail.com

      Thanks

  14. Love the extension. closest i've seen to downthemall and i like that as i don't like using firefox. Is there anyway you can have it so it only displays link items instead of all items on the page so if you wanted rip only full size images not the thumb images. Or really anything.

  15. Thanks for the useful extension.

I would like to be able to sort by size before selection.

    1. This one can impact the performance of the extension as I would have to pull the info of each file in order to display its size.
I'll try to find a way to implement your request in a user friendly way.

      Thanks for the feedback Borg

  17. Could you implement the feature to download Flash videos as well, such as from YouTube and other sources?

This would make it the ultimate all-in-one downloader.

  19. I recommend allowing user-defined pre-sets. IE, if I constantly needed to download photos from a camera's upload, I could set up a "IMAGE_CAM_" checkbox near the ".jpg" and ".exe" options.

Also, allow Wildcard characters...would help a lot! :)

Thanks for creating this excellent tool!

  21. maybe i don't get it, but if I want to download multiple files and click on download, a 'where to save'-dialog opens for every single file, which means that files are not been saved if I don't hit save fast enaugh, which I can't. Maybe you can implement a directory chooser to specify the download loacation. Unless I have to disable the option 'ask where to save', which I don't like. Beside that, it's a really good, easy to use extension.

    1. You do get it and it is annoying, I know.
I tried to handle this scenario, but couldn't find an API using which I could access the browser settings (to get 'ask where to save') from the extension. Nor chrome has an API enabling me to download the files to a location outside of the browser sandbox.
I continue to search for a solution, as this hurts a lot users.

      Thanks for your feedback.

  22. How can I uninstall this extension - using the remove on the Extension page does not work. Why not have an uninstall button on the Chrome website page - like the other extensions have?

    1. I'm actually testing this before release. I'm being able to uninstall from the extension menu and the extension page.
      I'm testing on Chrome 20.0.1132.57 m

Does this still reproduce in your browser? Which chrome version?

  24. I would like to have the possibility to copy into the notepad all the selected links.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Do you want a separate button for the copy?
You can actually just place your mouse pointer at the beginning of some link, then click left button, then while pressing the mouse drag it any link end. Then press Ctrl-C and then just paste to the notepad.
Sorry if you aren't a newbie and the explanation is too detailed.

Please let me know if this solution is good enough for you.

      Thanks for your feedback.

In case jpg filter is not present, it means there is no jpg file linked in the webpage for Download Master to download.

Or maybe I just didn't get your comment right :)

      Did I?
